Winter’s Chill Is Settling In | Weather
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Hi, everyone! Chief meteorologist James Zahara here.
Still some light snow expected this afternoon that will likely add another inch to our total around the area. This will give the Quad Cities around 2 inches for our total with a few inches more to our north.
With the snow diminishing to flurries later in the day the blustery cold air will take center stage slowly dropping our temperatures. By rush hour readings will be in the colder 20s before slipping even further overnight. Untreated roadways and sidewalks may be extra challenging as the light snow of today will cover the light layers of patchy ice now created from the rains of yesterday. Blustery winds from time to time with this deep, arctic cold will settle across the area through Friday dropping wind chills at or below zero.
Temperatures will recover some heading into the weekend as the next wave of snow arrives Friday night before ending with an inch or two on Saturday morning. We should start melting some whats left of this snow and ice starting Sunday and into early next week with readings climbing back above freezing.
