Cities declare snow emergency for Tuesday’s storm | News
Some area community officials have declared a snow emergency in preparation for the snow storm forecast for Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
The mayor of Blue Grass, Iowa declared a weather emergency effective from 6 p.m. Monday, March 4 through 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. Vehicles should not be parked on city streets in Blue Grass during the weather emergency period, to allow full access for emergency vehicles and snow plows.
Clinton, Iowa is under a snow emergency from 7 p.m. Monday, March 4 until snow is cleared from all streets. Vehicles not removed from Clinton streets by 8 p.m. Monday, Marcy 4 could be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
Davenport is under a snow emergency from 10 p.m. Monday, March 4 through 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 5. Parking on posted snow routes is prohibited when a snow emergency is in effect, and vehicles parked on posted snow routes during a snow emergency may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Downtown parking is available for free on any of the three downtown parking ramps.
Dixon, Illinois police posted on Facebook that even-odd parking restrictions are in effect there for Tuesday, so vehicles should be parked on the odd-numbered side of the street that day.
East Moline is under a snow emergency from midnight Monday night/Tuesday morning until 24 hours after snow stops falling. All vehicles must be removed from city streets, and violating vehicles are subject to a ticket and/or tow at the owner’s expense.
Sterling, Illinois is under a snow emergency beginning Tuesday at 8 a.m. and continuing until snow is cleared from streets. During a snow emergency, there is no parking on snow routes until snow is removed from the full width of the street; there is no parking in the Central Business District and in city parking lots between 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. and odd-even parking restrictions are in effect so vehicles should be parked on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days and on the even-numbered side on even-numbered days.
