Iowa Will Issue Licenses to Some Young Illegal Immigrants | News
Title (Max 100 Characters)
IOWA--There's been a change of course for the Iowa Department of Transportation regarding its policy of not issuing driver's licenses to young immigrants in the state who were brought here illegally by their parents. IDOT had previously said no licenses would be issued to illegal immigrants, regardless of the situation. On January 23, a new policy was issued based on information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. That new information changes the definition of people granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival status, which allows those brought in illegally to have some rights as they work toward legal status.
