Barge traffic expected to continue despite drought
Federal officials say they’re confident barge traffic will keep moving along the Mississippi River.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said they may have to shut down the river south of St. Louis due to low water levels.
But since then, crews have cleared bedrock from the river to keep water levels high enough to keep traffic moving.
