BCSD to Host Kindergarten Round-Up – March 1 | Families

BETTENDORF, Iowa--Children residing in the Bettendorf Community School District who will be five years old on or before September 15, 2013, should plan to attend Kindergarten Round-Up at their neighborhood school on Friday, March 1.Kindergarten Round-Up provides an opportunity for parents and students to meet the building principal and kindergarten teacher(s).  A brief overview of the kindergarten program and its academic/social expectations will be shared.  Registration materials are available at bettendorf.k12.ia.us/Parents/Registration/k-roundup

Parents should bring a copy of the child's birth certificate and immunization records, as well as proof of residency, such as a signed lease agreement, an approved offer to purchase or build a home, a utility bill with the parent’s name and residence address, or a letter from a utility company stating that the parent has established service at the resident address. Parents residing with relatives are required to fill-out a Notarized Statement of Residency form.

The State of Iowa immunization requirements for kindergarten are that students be immunized against Hepatitis B - a series of three shots given over six months. Students must have five doses of DPT, four doses of Polio – one of each after 4 years of age. Students are also required to have two doses of MMR, and two doses of Varicella (chicken pox).  No child will be enrolled without an immunization certificate.

Parents or guardians of are also required to provide evidence of a dental screening (done no earlier than age three and no later than age six) by a dentist, dental hygienist, physician, nurse or physician's assistant.
